We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Fitter / Machinist to join a high-performing overhaul team dedicated to the precision repair of heavy-duty electrical motors and components.

In this role, you aren’t just "turning wrenches"—you are an essential part of a self-directed team responsible for the cost-effective repair and overhaul of electrical motors, alternators, and blowers. If you have a passion for precision machining and complex electro-mechanical troubleshooting, this is the opportunity for you.

What’s in it for you?
Dynamic Team Environment: Work in a collaborative, self-directed team where your input on production scheduling and cost-reduction initiatives is valued.

Professional Growth: Opportunity to obtain High Risk Work Licences (Forklift, Dogging, Rigging) and gain experience in specialized Medium/High Voltage equipment.

Modern Workflow: Utilize the latest technology, including iPads and tablets, for technical reporting and inventory management.

The Role & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Production Manager and working alongside Shop Leads, you will perform technical overhauls on Traction Motors and Alternators. Your day-to-day will involve:

Precision Machining & Repair: Conducting overhauls, machining, and repairs on various electrical motor components in accordance with OEM requirements.

Balancing & Testing: Performing static and dynamic balancing and re-testing reassembled equipment for proper operation.

Technical Troubleshooting: Disassembling equipment, identifying faults, and using precision measurement tools to determine serviceability.

Project Documentation: Preparing cost estimates, describing technical problems, and completing accurate paperwork via digital devices.

Continuous Improvement: Participating in LEAN/Six Sigma initiatives and daily toolbox talks to ensure a safe, efficient workshop.

About you
We are looking for a tradesperson who takes pride in "getting it right the first time" and possesses a customer-focused attitude. To be successful, you will need:

Trade Qualified: Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or equivalent.

Machining Expertise: Proven ability to repair, machine, or fabricate large, complex workpieces.

Safety First Mindset: A strong commitment to EHS policies, workplace inspections, and safe work observations.

Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and use MS Office/Tablets.

Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide concise technical reports and feedback.

Highly Regarded:

Experience with High Voltage motors or generators.

Soldering, brazing, or welding qualifications.

Overhead crane competency and existing High Risk Work Licences.
